Bugaboo has been making pushchairs since 1999 and there’s a reason they’ve stayed at the top of the market for over two decades. They look good. They feel good. And when you push one for the first time, you understand immediately why parents pay a premium for them.
I’ve been following this brand since I launched this site in 2006 — through the Frog, the Gecko, the Bee, the Buffalo — and watched them refine every generation. The current range is the best they’ve ever made. But here’s what I always tell parents who ask about Bugaboo: the question isn’t whether Bugaboo is worth the money. It usually is. The question is which Bugaboo — and whether Bugaboo is right for your life. A pushchair that’s perfect in Amsterdam can be a nightmare in a terraced house in Leeds.

Bugaboo makes some of the best pushchairs available in the UK market. The build quality, the engineering, and the longevity are consistently above most competitors. But the range is broad and the prices are premium — choosing the wrong Bugaboo for your lifestyle is an expensive mistake. This hub exists to help you choose the right one.

Which Bugaboo is right for you?
If you walk regularly on genuine off-road terrain — woodland paths, coastal walks, muddy fields → the Bugaboo Fox 5. The benchmark all-terrain pushchair in its class. Heavy and expensive, but it earns both.
If you fly regularly, use public transport, or need the most manageable compact pushchair → the Bugaboo Butterfly 2. One-second fold, cabin-compatible dimensions, Bugaboo build quality in 7.3kg.
If you have or are planning two children and want genuine single-to-double flexibility → the Bugaboo Donkey 6. Converts in under a minute, still fits standard doorways in double mode. Heavy and expensive — but the right pushchair if you genuinely need it.
If you’re a city parent who wants a compact, manoeuvrable everyday pushchair with a reversible seat → the Bugaboo Dragonfly. Tested outside Casey’s Corner at Disneyland Paris — competent city pushchair, exceptional fold, but expensive for the category.

The real trade-off in this range
Capability vs portability
The better the all-terrain performance, the heavier the pushchair. The Fox 5 at 12.2kg is Bugaboo’s most capable. The Butterfly 2 at 7.3kg is the most portable. There’s no version that does both.
Flexibility vs simplicity
The Donkey 6’s single-to-double flexibility is genuinely impressive. But if you only ever need a single pushchair, you’re paying for engineering you won’t use. Buy for your actual situation, not a speculative one.
Price vs longevity
Bugaboo holds its value better than almost any other pushchair brand. A three-year-old Fox 5 bought secondhand often outlasts a new mid-range pushchair from another brand — and costs less. Factor this in if price is a constraint.

A word on buying Bugaboo secondhand
Bugaboo’s build quality means secondhand models hold up exceptionally well. Parts are available directly from Bugaboo, fabrics can be replaced, and the frames last. A two or three year old Fox 5 bought privately often represents better value than a new mid-range pushchair from another brand — and will outlast it.
One important note if you’re considering a secondhand Dragonfly: there was a recall on early Dragonfly models purchased before June 2023.
