Our verdict
The Bugaboo Butterfly 2 edges it — nothing else comes close to its one-second fold.
They’re almost the same weight and fold to almost the same size, so it comes down to the fold and the build — and the Butterfly 2’s one hand, one motion, one second fold is the feature that defines it. Choose the UPPAbaby Minu V3 instead if storage matters more: a bigger basket, a hidden AirTag pocket — and it’s around £35 cheaper.
How we compared them
Bugaboo Butterfly 2: handled twice — once in a local baby shop, and once at Hesketh Farm in West Yorkshire with my grandson, where a dad who’d spent the morning pushing his across the grass field and bark chippings let me try it.
UPPAbaby Minu V3: hands-on with a family’s own Minu V3 at Zizzi in The Light, Leeds. I folded it, pushed it, bounced it and examined the fabrics, and talked to the owners about how it suits them day to day.

Choose the Butterfly 2 if…
you fold it many times a day — at bus stops, train doors and boarding gates — and you want the quickest, cleanest fold available, with Bugaboo build quality throughout.
Choose the Minu V3 if…
storage matters more than fold speed — a 9kg basket that’s excellent in practice, plus a hidden AirTag pocket — and you’d like to save around £35.

What makes the Bugaboo Butterfly 2 stand out
The fold really is one second. I’ve handled pushchairs claiming quick folds for twenty years and they almost always involve a caveat — a button to press first, a seat to remove, a second hand needed. The Butterfly 2’s is one motion, one second, one hand, and it’s self-standing once folded. For parents who’ve wrestled with bulky folds at airport gates, on buses, or outside shops, this is the feature that justifies the price.
The caveat is the suspension. At Hesketh Farm, on a dry summer’s day across farm grass and bark chippings, it handled the surfaces — but the ride felt firmer than you’d expect from a pushchair with “full suspension” on the spec sheet. For an airport terminal or a supermarket, that’s irrelevant.

What makes the UPPAbaby Minu V3 stand out
The Minu V3 is a premium lightweight that’s well built, with excellent storage — it even has a hidden AirTag pocket, which would be useful if you’re going to Disneyland Paris, for example, where we know about pushchair thefts. It has an easy one-handed fold which collapses it forward, it’s suitable from birth with a padded insert included, and it has a tall seat back, so taller kids won’t outgrow it too soon.
Against the Butterfly 2, it’s only 0.3kg heavier, folds to almost exactly the same size, and has the bigger basket. Where it falls short is that it’s decent rather than standout — you probably won’t regret buying the Minu, but you could do a bit better.

💡 From the Minu owners I met at The Light
The owners loved it — it met all their needs and requirements. They hadn’t had it too long, though, so there was still a newness to it, and issues and negatives often develop over time.
The question that decides it
How often will you fold it? If you’re folding it many times a day — bus stops, train doors, boarding gates, in and out of the car — the Butterfly 2’s one-second fold is the reason to buy it, and you’ll appreciate it most when you’re under pressure. The Minu’s one-handed fold is easy too, but it isn’t in the same league.
If you fold it once or twice a day and live out of the basket, the Minu V3 gives you more storage and an AirTag pocket for a little less money. As I always say, before buying a pushchair you need to understand where you will use it and how you will use it.
💬 If this were my money…
Of these two, the Butterfly 2 — that fold is the feature that defines it. You probably won’t regret buying the Minu, but you could do a bit better.
And at this premium price point, the Stokke YOYO³ would be where I’d spend my money — see YOYO³ vs Butterfly 2 and YOYO³ vs Minu V3. As always, choose the right pushchair for your needs and budget.

Choose the UPPAbaby Minu V3 if:
- Storage matters — 9kg basket, excellent in practice

About this comparison
Mark founded MyPushchair.co.uk in 2006 after struggling to find honest, straightforward pushchair advice as a new dad. For this comparison he handled the Butterfly 2 in store and at Hesketh Farm in West Yorkshire, where an owner let him try it across grass and bark chippings, and had a hands-on with a family’s Minu V3 at The Light, Leeds.
