✓ YOYO³ — long-term daily use by K on buses, trains and in Leeds city centre ✓ Minu V3 — hands-on with owners at The Light, Leeds

Our verdict

The Stokke YOYO³ wins — it’s where I’d spend my money.

It’s 1.4kg lighter, folds smaller, and is the benchmark for compact pushchair manoeuvrability. Choose the UPPAbaby Minu V3 instead if you need a one-handed fold or rely on pushchair storage — the two things the YOYO³ doesn’t do well — or you want a pushchair that’s ready from birth out of the box.

How we compared them

Stokke YOYO³: K, my daughter, uses one as her primary pushchair, every day — buses, trains, supermarkets and Leeds city centre — and I’ve handled it with her in real use, as well as examining Stokke’s range at trade shows.
UPPAbaby Minu V3: hands-on with a family’s own Minu V3 at Zizzi in The Light, Leeds. I folded it, pushed it, bounced it and examined the fabrics, and talked to the owners about how it suits them day to day.

Choose the YOYO³ if…

you use public transport, fly with your child or are heading to Disneyland Paris, and you want the lightest, most manoeuvrable pushchair of the two — and you can live with a two-handed fold and carrying a backpack.

Choose the Minu V3 if…

you’ll often fold it with a baby in your arms, you want excellent storage under the seat, or you want a premium compact that’s ready from birth without buying a newborn pack — and an extra 1.4kg won’t bother you.

What makes the Stokke YOYO³ stand out

As light as pushing fresh air — well, not quite. But it’s as close as the pushchair market currently gets. The YOYO³ is the pushchair we recommend more than any other on this site, and that comes from long-term daily use: K uses hers on buses, round supermarkets, to friends’ houses and into Leeds city centre. Her verdict, unprompted and unequivocal, is that for urban and public transport use, nothing comes close. Getting a pushchair onto a Northern Rail train at Crossflatts, where the platform gap is wide and the step is high, is a real challenge with most pushchairs — the YOYO³’s light weight and compact size make it manageable solo.

Against the Minu, it’s 1.4kg lighter and over 7cm slimmer when folded. The catches are the two the YOYO³ has always had: the fold needs two hands and takes practice, and storage is limited, so you’ll be reaching for a backpack. You’ll also need the newborn pack if you’re using it from birth.

What makes the UPPAbaby Minu V3 stand out

The Minu V3 is a premium lightweight that’s well built, with excellent storage — it even has a hidden AirTag pocket, which would be useful if you’re going to Disneyland Paris, for example, where we know about pushchair thefts. It has an easy one-handed fold which collapses it forward, it’s suitable from birth with a padded insert included, and it has a tall seat back, so taller kids won’t outgrow it too soon.

Those are exactly the areas where the YOYO³ is weakest. The catch is weight: at 7.6kg, the Minu is not the lightest in its class, and it’s decent rather than standout — you probably won’t regret buying the Minu, but you could do a bit better.

💡 From the Minu owners I met at The Light

The owners loved it — it met all their needs and requirements. They hadn’t had it too long, though, so there was still a newness to it, and issues and negatives often develop over time.

The question that decides it

Do you need a one-handed fold, or lots of storage? If you’re on a bus with a baby in one arm and need to fold with the other hand, or you can’t face carrying a backpack every day, the Minu V3 does both of those better. If neither applies to your life, the YOYO³ is lighter, smaller when folded, and easier to manoeuvre — and that’s what you’ll notice every single day on pavements, buses and trains.

Then check the price of exactly what you need. The Minu is ready from birth at around £400. The YOYO³ needs the newborn pack for that, which takes the full price to £594 — though YOYO³ bundles are often discounted. As I always say, before buying a pushchair you need to understand where you will use it and how you will use it.

💬 If this were my money…

At this premium price point, the YOYO³ would be where I’d spend my money. You probably won’t regret buying the Minu — but you could do a bit better. If a one-handed fold is a dealbreaker, though, the Minu is the one of these two to buy.

Choose the Stokke YOYO³ if:

  • You use buses and trains every day
  • You fly with your child and want the smallest fold
  • Disneyland Paris is on the agenda — it’s our top pick for the resort
  • Every kilo counts — it’s 1.4kg lighter

Choose the UPPAbaby Minu V3 if:

  • You need to fold it one-handed, with baby in arms
  • You rely on pushchair storage
  • You want it ready from birth without buying a newborn pack
  • You’d like a hidden AirTag pocket for peace of mind when travelling

About this comparison

Mark founded MyPushchair.co.uk in 2006 after struggling to find honest, straightforward pushchair advice as a new dad. For this comparison he drew on his daughter K’s long-term daily use of the YOYO³ on buses, trains and around Leeds, and his own hands-on with a family’s Minu V3 at The Light, Leeds.
