The boot test — what these pushchairs are actually like to live with
Both pushchairs are on the heavier side — the Gazelle S at 12.9kg and the Ocarro 2 at 13.9kg. Neither is a pushchair you’ll throw into a small hatchback without thinking. But there’s a meaningful difference in how that weight presents itself in daily life.
The Ocarro 2 is a single pushchair — 13.9kg is the whole story, and once it’s folded it’s folded. The Mamas & Papas Ocarro 2 has 4-point suspension and genuine all-terrain wheels — it’s built for parents who walk on more than smooth pavements. Tested in store at Birstall, the suspension is real and the build quality is consistently premium throughout. If weekend walks on paths, fields and light countryside terrain are part of your life, the Ocarro 2 handles them comfortably.
The Gazelle S is capable on urban surfaces and parks but isn’t designed specifically around all-terrain use — its engineering focus is configuration flexibility and storage rather than suspension performance. If rough terrain is a regular part of your life, the Ocarro 2 is the stronger tool.

If storage is a priority…
The Gazelle S wins this category convincingly. Its 23kg total basket capacity — lower basket plus detachable shopper — is class-leading. This is a pushchair you could do a full supermarket run with and still have room. The Ocarro 2 has a good basket but it’s not in the same league. If you regularly load a pushchair with shopping, changing bags and daily kit, the Gazelle S’s storage is genuinely impressive.

💬 If this were my money…
If I needed a single pushchair for genuine off-road use, I’d buy the Ocarro 2 — the suspension and all-terrain capability are meaningfully better and £849 is fair for what it delivers. If I was planning a second child and wanted one system to grow with me, I’d look seriously at the Gazelle S — but I’d factor in the second seat cost before assuming it’s the cheaper option. Remove the double capability from the equation and the Ocarro 2 is the more focused, easier-to-live-with pushchair. Put the growing family question back in and the Gazelle S becomes very hard to argue against.
If we were standing in the shop together…
If you told me you had one child and walked regularly on parks, coastal paths and light countryside, I’d point at the Ocarro 2. The suspension is real, the fold is simple, and you’re not paying for 20 configurations you’ll never use.
If you told me you were expecting a second child within the next year or two and wanted one pushchair system that could handle both without starting again, I’d point at the Gazelle S — and remind you to budget for the second seat before you leave the shop.
If you told me budget was tight and you only needed a single pushchair, I’d point at the Gazelle S at £699.95 and note that it’s £150 cheaper than the Ocarro 2 — but push back and ask whether you’d actually use those 20 configurations or whether you’re paying for flexibility you’ll never need.
