I have a confession to make about the Silver Cross Pop 2. I like it — perhaps more than the specification sheet strictly justifies. Some of that fondness is earned: the Pop 2 is genuinely improved over the original, well-built, easy to clean, and fair value especially bought as a bundle. But some of it is the same affection I have for an original Italian Job-style Mini over the newer ones. The original Pop launched in 2007 — the year this site was number one for pushchair reviews — and I tested it at trade shows and in real-world use. It was a genuine icon of that era. The Pop 2 carries that name forward and, to Silver Cross’s credit, it’s earned it rather than just borrowed it.

The Pop 2 is a touch heavy for a stroller. The fold is two-handed — an umbrella style that requires both hands to operate. For some parents this isn’t a concern. For parents who regularly fold one-handed at bus stops or train doors with a child on their hip, it’s a genuine daily limitation. Buses don’t wait. Train doors don’t either. If that’s your situation, the Silver Cross Clic 2 is the better tool.

The folded dimensions are also a little bulky compared to the best ultra-compact options in this category. It folds to 107cm in length — manageable for most situations, but not the most compact result available. If cabinet-under-the-stairs storage or overhead train rack use is important, it’s worth knowing before you buy.

Would I choose it?

Yes — with honest caveats. If I wanted a well-built Silver Cross stroller at a fair price and weight and compactness weren’t my primary concerns, I’d buy the Pop 2 and feel good about it. The heritage is real, the improvements over the original are genuine, and the easy-clean fabrics are a practical strength for daily use.

If I needed the lightest or most compact option available, I’d look elsewhere.
